The TECCER Master's Degree Program focuses on the Brazilian Cerrado, from an interdisciplinary epistemological perspective.
Due to its spatial dimension, environmental singularity, demographic and economic weight, diversity of cultural manifestations and knowledge, the Brazilian Cerrado needs a verticalized study in the scope of the applied human and social sciences that allows encompassing broader and more critical issues. In this proposed perspective, the meaning of the Cerrado goes beyond a mere "biome" or a "natural resource", being seen as a "domain" where nature, society, history, culture and knowledge intersect.
The domain of the Cerrado was the scene of structural transformations, resulting from the economic exploitation of its natural resources, political intervention projects, migration and urbanization. In addition, in the domain of the Cerrado, cultural expressions and knowledge of the different social groups established in it have emerged.
